#55 The Kleshas, Part 1: Contemplating Avidya Guided Practice
The philosophical tradition of yoga suggests five root causes of suffering, known in Sanskrit as kleshas. While the specific spins of our minds differ from person to person, these "hindrances" can be considered universal.
In this contemplative practice with Annie Moyer, we’ll focus on the first of these culprits, avidya (ignorance), which is a misunderstanding of our true nature — a confusion between what’s eternal and what’s fleeting. Whenever a distraction grabs hold, we'll practice meeting it with a wisdom reference that reframes our understanding of the essence of being-ness.
